Barry Axelrod is a Beverly Hills resident, business owner, and lifelong entrepreneur known to many as “the cookie guy” behind Beverly Hills Cookies. He has spent over 50 years building businesses, solving problems, and working down in the trenches.
Barry is running to bring real business experience, strong leadership, and genuine integrity to City Hall.
BACKGROUND
Barry has built businesses for over 50 years, working across retail, real estate, events, design, consulting, development, and manufacturing.
In the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, he founded Beverly Hills Cookies, at a time when starting a new retail business was especially difficult. While many businesses were struggling, Barry took the risk, opened his store, and turned it into one of the most successful businesses on South Beverly Drive.
That experience shaped how Barry looks at City Hall.
He believes Beverly Hills should always maintain high standards, but the process should be clearer, faster, and easier for residents and businesses to work through. Too often, people are slowed down by red tape, outdated rules, delayed decisions, and confusing city processes.
Barry is running to bring real business experience, strong leadership, and genuine integrity to City Hall. His platform is focused on creating a city government that works with you, not against you, by streamlining city processes, supporting overwhelmed staff, cutting unnecessary red tape, and making it easier for residents and businesses to get things done.
He also believes Beverly Hills must do a better job maximizing city revenue by managing city assets more effectively, using the Beverly Hills brand wisely, bringing in sponsorships, supporting marquee events, and creating more activity that benefits residents, businesses, and city services.

With the help of my family and community, I created one of the most successful retail business in Beverly Hills during the the worst economy in modern history.
I'm ready to take that passion and experience to City Hall, and help build a Beverly Hills that is easier to work with, stronger financially, and more responsive to the people who live and work here.
